I had the opportunity to chat with Mark Jordan last night through this webpage. He sent me some pictures of his family and man it was a joy to see them. If I enjoyed this, then others may enjoy it as well. This forum script has the built in capabilities of a Photo Gallery so I thought it would be a no-brainer not to use it. So it is now
active.
If you wish to use it, there are two restrictions - first, you have to be registered and logged in. Second, there is a maximum file size limit of 300k restriction. Why is there a restriction you ask?

| Because a modern digital camera takes pictures over 3 megabytes in size and this is just too darn large to upload or download. ALSO, It exceeds the 2mb size limit which is built into php programming and I am not going to edit or hack the php configuration just to accommodate someone who does not know how to resize pictures. |
So, you will need to resize pictures before uploading,

.
Q - Ok, I will resize a picture and then upload it. How do I do this?
A - Well this question has two parts, resizing and then uploading. Let's do the resizing first.
If you are serious about sharing photos online, I encourage you to learn this skill. I will start with the absolute
easiest way and proceed to the
easier way.
Resizing:
The
easiest way - go to an online photo resizing website and resize your photos. This site is but one such example:
http://www.photosize.com . There are many others. Set the width to about 500 pixels wide. The website will resize the photo and then offer you the photo for downloading to your machine. Once you have it on your machine, then it is ready to upload to this website.
The
easier way - (this is for us who are not afraid to actually install a program) - is to download Microsoft's Photo Resizer for Windows XP only, install it and use it. Download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx and you will see "Image Resizer" towards the bottom on the right side column. Or, you can download from this link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
Once installed, to use it, browse to the image file in the file manager > Right Click (not left click) and select "resize Image". For the purposes of this website, an 800x600 image will be big enough. If you really love the picture, choose the "1024x(whatever)" size.
WARNING: Click on the Advanced tab to select the option to create a new resized image or to resize the original file. You may want to save the original file and create a new one. This saves the high quality of the original file. Again, this works for Windows XP only.
If you are using Vista, it can be done, but not as easily. Therefore, I would suggest to use the easiest way, or Irfanview, see below.
The
best way, which offers more control, and more options, is to use the FREE graphics tool called Irfanview to resize the photos. This program, when uncompressed, will not need to be installed but will run from where it is extracted to. Here is a tutorial on using this program:
http://transhost.org/coppermine/thumbnails/album=1.html . If you use Irfanview, it may be easier to simply select the 800x600 option, this will resize the photo in just a couple of clicks.
For those who do not wish to mess with resizing photos at all...
Uploading:
Create a photo album, and upload the pictures.

Now how hard is this? You can't fail, you can only try and give up. It is a three step process: Resize Photos > Create Album > Upload Pictures . If you wish to upload more that one picture at a time, use the jupload script (you will need java installed, and it too is free, and you may already have it installed).
Have fun.
